When capturing a relatively simple scene, it is crucial to properly execute things like exposure and composition. Cover your bases when you are out in the field. Technology has allowed you to take an unlimited amount of pictures. They are free. Gone are the days of expensive, finite film. So take many different exposures, depths of field, and compositions. You never know what images you will go back to later and love.
Because I post my images on a variety of different social media sources, I try to take many different compositions. Apps like Instagram require a square aspect ratio. It has been a exercise in compositional technique to make all of my photographs look presentable as a square. If you have never cropped to a square, I urge you to experiment with it. Composition is extremely important with a square crop. Focus on the rule of thirds and look for converging lines.
